Barbados will be the home of the first ever 'Best of ASCO' to be held in the Caribbean Region. Hosted by Caribbean Oncology Associates, a CancerCaribbean company which is the parent of our Cancer Center, the Best of ASCO Event in the Caribbean will build on the overall ASCO 2013 Theme "Building Bridges to Conquer Cancer” and will feature various topics and presentations from local, regional and international health care professionals. Scheduled to be held on December 1-2. 2013 at the beautiful and historic Barbados Hilton Hotel, the inaugural Best of ASCO Caribbean will feature a high standard of continuing medical education in a setting conducive to work and play.
Sarah Louden, our Managing Director, who spoke at the ASCO 2013 Conference in Chicago on the 'The Evolution of Cancer Care in Developing Countries’, is honoured to be bringing the Best of ASCO to the Caribbean region. Ms. Louden hopes that by introducing medical conferences like Best of ASCO, the most important and recognized oncology conference in the world, that the Caribbean with its excellent cancer care providers will be given the latest tools and information to help patients fight their disease. 'This is just a first step for CancerCaribbean, but one that will usher in a new era of cancer resources in this region. We are proud of our work and are excited to introduce everyone to what we have been diligently working on. The doctors and hospitals in Barbados have been so supportive to our cause that we couldn't have chosen anywhere else to launch.'
A range of studies have been selected from the official Best of ASCO listing. These studies will be presented by specially selected physicians from Barbados and the Caribbean region in general. Some studies will be presented by physicians outside of the Caribbean. The goal of the conference is to share best practices and update cancer specialists other physicians and allied health on the latest studies and advances in cancer care. Best of ASCO Event in the Caribbean involves targets cancer specialists, surgeons, general practitioners and allied health professionals.
